Basic Bootcamp

November 17-21, 2008

Ron, Jason, and Dan celebrated Jason's 50th birthday by taking a 5-day intensive cooking bootcamp at the famous Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York. Our Instructor was Chef DeShectler or Chef D. We had a great time and learned everything from basic knife skills to a variety of cooking types and preparations.

Here are our class members (thanks Sean!)

Here are the photos I took from the week. Enjoy.

Dan Smigrod took a wide variety of great photos which can be viewed here.

Throughout the 5 days I took a wide variety of videos of Chef D demonstrations and reviews of our efforts. They are somewhat large so be patient. These files will download to your computer to play (older method).

Best of Bootcamp

October 31 - November 3 2017

In my second trip to the CIA I was accompanied by David Bernstein (nephew) and Caryn Bernstein (sis-in-law) as a present for David's graduation from Tufts University. David chose the Best of Bootcamp, being very familiar with basic cooking skills (self taught). We had a blast. Great classmates, lots of fun, laughter, and, of course great food! Our instructor was Chef David Bruno who was excellent and a joy to be around. Below are all of the recipes and the video demonstrations along with some candid photos from our class. Bon Appetit!
